An uncontrollable fire has destroyed at least 150 makeshift structures late Friday night at Kano Street, Ebute-Meta area of Lagos State.
Similarly, another fire incident gutted goods worth millions of naira at the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) training school’s warehouse in the early hours of Saturday.
Mr Rasak Fadipe, the Director, Lagos State Fire Service, confirmed both incidents to NAN on Saturday in Lagos.
Fadipe said that his office got information about the fire outbreak that destroyed the makeshift structures at about 10.30 p.m., Friday night.
The director said that it took his men more than seven hours to put out the inferno, stressing that all the makeshift structures in the area were burnt.
“Our men were on ground as soon as they got the information; but then, the fire had already spread fast due to the makeshift structures and the current hot weather.
“We were able to put out the fire at about 5.30 a.m.,” he said.
There was no casualty,” he said.
Similarly, the firemen were also on ground to extinguish another fire outbreak at the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) training school’s warehouse, Ikeja.
Fadipe said that the fire started at about 1.30 a.m. on Saturday.
According to him, the upstairs is used for lectures, while the ground floor is use as a warehouse for seized goods.
“The building structure collapsed on the goods on the ground floor while our men were still battling with the fire due to the intensity of the inferno on the structure, he said.

Sakho Suspended By Liverpool After Failing Drugs Test

S
Mamadou Sakho has been stood down from first team action by Liverpool after the defender failed a drug test.
The France defender has been cited for taking something which is on UEFA’s banned substance list and although he is still eligible to play, the club have decided he will not be available for selection while an investigation is ongoing, but stress that he has not been suspended.
In a statement on the club’s website, Liverpool confirmed that they are “investigating a possible anti-doping rule violation” and that Sakho will respond to UEFA on the matter.
The positive test came after the Reds’ 1-1 draw against Manchester United at Old Trafford in the Europa League last month and it is believed that Sakho did not know the composition of the supplement and has told the club he acted in good faith.
The 26-year-old has until Tuesday to respond to the charge and will likely ask for a B sample to be tested.
